I’ve transitioned my newsletter over to Substack, for a few reasons. I love the interface, it will allow me to leverage the Substack Network to gain a broader reach, and it will allow me to publish all my writing in one place - I will still publish my business-relevant content to Linkedin as well. If you’ve drifted away from my writings over the last couple of years, you’re of course welcome to unsubscribe.

The New Moon in Taurus comes late in the season, resetting the pattern of the early new moons we have had for about a year. We’ve already been enjoying the good life as prescribed by Taurus: chocolates, nature, and physical indulgence is the name of the game under the influence of Taurus. Taurus wants to savor and enjoy every last drop of life. There is a life and vibrancy to the geometry of this new moon, with some new influences emerging to spice things up a bit.
To start, we have 6 planets in Taurus: Sun, Moon, Uranus, Mercury, North Node, and Jupiter. Jupiter represents an important shift, and one worth spending some time on.
Jupiter switches signs about every year. An expansion in personal agency and sovereignty characterized Jupiter in Aries. We grew by being decisive and independent. Now that Jupiter has entered Taurus, a fixed Earth sign, we would expect to settle in, enjoy the scenery, and take things slow, luxuriating in the process versus rushing towards the destination, Aries style.
Patience will be an important value to cultivate as we respond to the frenetic pace of Aries by remembering that this journey is one to be savored, not finished. Yes, there are places to go and things to do, but that doesn't mean each step is not vitally important and deserving of our undivided attention. Now is not the time to skip steps. Taurus demands that we lay our foundation one brick at a time, one after the other.
It will be important and helpful to find ways to enjoy the ride, even if it is an unpleasant one.
Taurus, in many ways, speaks to societal imbalances in self-worth and our relationship to food, nature, and nourishment. Taurus is very image-oriented. Many times, Taurus would prefer to look like they have a good life rather than have a good life. Taurus is often more concerned with looks than substance. Taurus prefers to look strong than actually be strong. Taurus has to overcome a deeply embedded belief that they are not good enough.
Not good enough to prioritize, not good enough to be loved, not good enough to put their own needs before the needs of others. Taurus internalizes the problems around them and says, “If I were good enough, these things wouldn’t happen”. Whether it’s a divorce between Taurus’ parents or an abusive relationship, Taurus’ takeaway is that “I must not be smart/lovable/pretty/good enough”.
And so, our journey, edge, and growth unfold through this journey to claim our self-worth for the next year. We would be wise to approach this from both external and internal means. Affirmations and journaling will only get you so far; we have to couple them with actions that align with our values and bolster this sense of self-worth.
Taurus is always seeking validation from outside itself: food, image, validation, and approval. Addiction is a theme of Taurus. Rather than an escapist motivation, though, it is motivated by a desire to fill the void. Patience, and cultivating the capacity to delay gratification, are crucial for Taurus to realize its potential.
Jupiter is especially alive. Not only has it just crossed into Taurus, but it is also conjunct the north node and square to Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Cancer. Pluto/Jupiter squares can be very challenging, as Pluto shows us where the real power lies, and how we are leveraging power dynamics in potentially manipulative ways. In Aquarius, Pluto leverages technology for power and, hopefully, finds creative ways to democratize access to that technology so that we have access to the source code.
Pluto, Jupiter, and Mars may have some tricks up their sleeve and we could see ways that technology can benefit the natural world emerge. We could just as easily see how technology is causing problems in the natural world, though. More likely, we will see both. Squares reveal a crisis. They are not the crisis itself. Whatever emerges now was already there, it just may get more attention.
With Mars about to enter Leo, we would be wise to move our bodies, provided our bodies are being nourished adequately. This caveat is wildly important. I have heard from many people lately who are exhausted. They can’t muster the energy to do the things they need to do most days, and most of them are locked into dysfunctional relationships with food, either not eating enough, or not eating the right types of food for them.
This is a time to be open to new ways of nourishing your body. Are you sure your diet is really working for you? How do you know that? What are the metrics you are optimizing for? Is your diet just there, or is it an asset?
This last question is an interesting one to apply to most of the things you do in your life, and you could systematize it very easily by framing it through the 12 houses. Is your body an asset, a liability, or neutral? How about your emotions? Mind? Friends? Love life?
Are these things bolstering your ability to actualize your potential or are they hindering it?
